HARARE – The Premier Soccer League (PSL) is working on a solid plan for the resumption of domestic football which will see the Chibuku Super Cup running concurrently with the league programme.
It has been a long and torturous journey which has seen domestic football taking a back seat since 2019, owing to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Even the Chibuku Super Cup which was supposed to be the dress rehearsal of the domestic league suffered the same fate with only a few matches being played this year before sport was put on hold.
The Premier Soccer League is however not giving up with the leadership working on a solid plan to have the league and cup competition running concurrently.
“We have always had competitions running concurrently so resuming won’t be difficult it’s just a matter of scheduling. We want stadia to be ready because the more things change is also the same way we go back to home and away basis,” said Kudzai Bare, PSL Communications & Media Liason.
PSL has earmarked August for the start of the league competition and it remains to be seen if the proposed format will be approved.
Meanwhile, the mid-season player transfer window is set to close this Saturday.
