Chevrons hope for T20 relief

By Lawrence Trusida

After losing the test and One Day International series, the Zimbabwe national cricket side, the Chevrons will be hoping to restore lost pride when they take on Bangladesh in T20 encounters which get underway this Thursday at Harare Sports Club.

Not only have the visitors subdued the hosts on this particular tour but they have had the better of the Chevrons in the recent past.

Zimbabwe used to be miles ahead of Bangladesh but a quick glance at the world standings will reveal how everything has turned upside down.

The hosts have won four matches against Bangladesh’s nine in cricket’s shortest version and they need to be at their best if they are to get the much needed victory.

Zimbabwe will also go into the three match T20 series without the experienced duo of Craig Ervine and Sean Williams.

Tadiwanashe Marumani might have struggled in the ODIs but he has been distinctive in this format while Wessly Madhevere has done well in the middle order and much will be expected of him.

For the visitors, Tamim Iqbal is unavailable due to injury.

The match kicks off at 1230pm and will be live on ZBC TV.
