Zimbabwe is set to host the Rugby Africa Cup Pool D matches after Tunisia failed to host the tournament following a surge in Covid-19 cases in the North African country.
The Sables will have home advantage in the upcoming Rugby Africa Cup after getting the rights to host Pool D matches with original hosts Tunisia now in the Covid-19 red zone.
Zimbabwe was on standby to host the games as the second highest ranked team in the group.
The Sables were set to leave for Tunisia last weekend but they were informed of the unfortunate developments on the eve of their departure leaving their world cup hopes in a quandary.
Reports say Tunisia have been denied the opportunity to travel to Zimbabwe by their government although other sources say they have appealed against the decision.
As it stands the tournament will now be a two-team competition to establish the ranking for the next stage.
The tournament is tentatively set to take place at Harare Sports Club between the 16th and 22nd of this month with two games being played against Burkina Faso subject to approval by the Sports and Recreation Commission.
