ZIMBABWE’S small scale miners are expecting an improvement in gold deliveries to Fidelity Printers and Refiners (FPR) after authorities slashed royalties and are now buying the commodity at global prices.
Fidelity Printers and Refiners says it has also introduced on spot payments for deliveries.
National Gold Buyers Association President Mr Scott Sakupwanya revealed the improvement in gold deliveries during the past few days.
“Zvikuru kunyanya ndezvekuti goridhe ravakuendeswa ku Fidelity nekuda kwezvakatarwa nehurumende kuitira kuti pave neiya yatinoti profitability mundima iyi,” (Gold will now be remitted to Fidelity Printers and Refiners because of Government’s announcement which brings profitability in this sector), he said.
Deputy Minister of Mines and Mining Development Honourable Polite Kambamura reiterated government’s commitment to increased gold production.
“Several incentives area being put in place for the benefit of the entire gold mining value chain and it is our hope that such initiatives will indeed have a positive effect in maximising output,” he said.
