WITH fifteen days to go before the COSAFA tournament, the Warriors participation at the regional competition still hangs in the balance amid revelations that the Sport and Recreation Commission has not responded to ZIFA’s appeal.
The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) is still waiting for a response from the Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) on whether the national team will be allowed to participate at the COSAFA tournament which kicks off on the 7th of next month.
Upon pronouncement of the suspension of all sporting activities by the SRC, Zifa immediately appealed on the 13th of this month for a green light to participate at the tournament.
Exactly a week after their appeal, ZIFA is still waiting for a decision and time is slowly running out for the technical team to announce a team for the tournament, with other nations having already done so ahead of Wednesday’s deadline.
Another challenge for the technical team is the suspension of the local league, with Warriors Coach Zdravko Logarusic and his technical department having indicated that they want to give locally based players an opportunity.
The two week stoppage of the league will also not be any good for the players’ fitness, especially after going for over a year without competitive action.
