A 29-year-old Harare man has appeared in court facing charges of theft involving ZWL$3 million after cloning debit cards.
Tinotenda Chinyemba will spend the night behind bars pending bail ruling for allegedly cloning bank cards and getting away with more the three million Zimbabwe dollars.
Chinyemba, who is facing charges of unauthorised possession and use of debit cards, cloned a POSB debit card and purchased beer worth ZWL$160 thousand and made ten other transactions of ZWL$10 thousand each.
It is further alleged that last week Friday, police detectives received information that the accused used a cloned card and made a transaction of ZWL$30 thousand at an Agribank POS machine intending to get United States dollars.
The accused was later arrested and an access ZimSwitch POSB bank card was recovered.
ZWL$12 870 was recovered out of the ZWL$3 million that was stolen.
Chinyemba has been remanded in custody and will be back in court this Tuesday.
