SHINGI Katsvere scored four tries as the Zimbabwe Rugby Sables emphatically thumped neighbours Zambia 56-3 to win the second composite friendly match played at Harare Sports Club this Saturday.
The Sables struggled for much of the first half with Zambia dominating more especially in forwards play but the hosts managed to go to the breather leading 10-3 courtesy of tries from Martin Mangongo and Shingi Katsvere.
Coach Brandon Dawson must have had stern words for his boys as the Sables came back a rejuvenated side, with winger Shingi Katsvere scoring a second half hat-trick of tries.
The nephew of former Dynamos great Edward Katsvere benefitted a lot from great passing from centre Brendon Mudzekenyedzi who had a brilliant game in midfield.
Katsvere has always been known for his finishing skills and this time took the opportunity to remind everyone that he can still win games even in a different position.
There were further tries from Mudzekenyedzi, Captain Hilton Mudariki, experienced Biselele Tshamala and a brace for substitute Keith Chiwara.
“We played we as a unit it’s not individual performance I benefited from the team play especially the forwards who dominated the game and also the centres who were releasing the ball at the right time,” said Shingi Katsvere, Sables Winger.
Meanwhile, the Sables committee is talking to South African franchise Blue Bulls for another friendly after the Namibia match which was scheduled for month end was cancelled after the country entered into lockdown due to Covid-19.
