PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa has applauded Zimbabwean sportsman Themba Gorimbo, a world champion in mixed martial arts, for continuously flying country’s flag high.
The President made the remarks when he met Gorimbo at State House in Harare this Saturday.
The South Africa-based Zimbabwean mixed martial arts fighter is in the country to promote the sport that has given him fame.
The welterweight champion is intending to set up a mixed martial arts gym that will lay the foundation for the development of the sport in the country.
Gorimbo who is also the reigning sports person of the year, started his career in South.
Popularly known as “The Answer”, Gorimbo has also brought in American Carla Esparza who is the current Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) straw weight champion.
Meanwhile, Gorimbo is slowly realising his dream of fighting at the highest level after he was invited to the Dana White Contenders Series were UFC fighters are selected from.
