STRATEGIES towards sustaining mining sector growth post-COVID-19 will dominate discussions during the 2021 Chamber of Mines of Zimbabwe Annual Mining Conference which kicks off today in the resort city of Victoria Falls.

Zimbabwe’s mining sector which accounts for over 60% of the country annual exports, will be under the spotlight as investors, financiers, policy makers and captains of industry converge in the resort city of Victoria Falls for the annual mining conference.

Running under the theme, “Navigating Turbulent Times” – Sustaining Growth of the Mining Industry beyond COVID-19, the gathering will provide a platform for delegates to formulate strategies towards positioning the sector for growth.

Zimbabwe’s oil and gas potential will also be high on the agenda with delegates expected to deliberate on how best the country can develop a world-class oil industry and harness the opportunities for downstream industries.

The mining sector currently generates around US$2 billion dollars and there are expectations that the implementation of growth stimulating policies will see annual revenue for the sector surging to US$12 billion dollars by 2023.
