The newly formed Zimbabwe Cestoball Association is preparing to host its first ever competition, on the 25th of next month.
Cestoball is a new sport which was introduced in 2019 before the Covid-19 pandemic struck.
The Zimbabwe Cestoball Association however used the period of inactivity as an opportunity to set up administrative structures in various parts of the country.
Attention has since shifted to the first ever competition, dubbed the President’s Cup set for the 25th of next month.
“We are very excited to be hosting our first competition, it’s a way to kick start the sport and also get to assess how our coaches are doing as we have been training coaches and administrators,” said association president Amon Madzvamuse.
The Association is also empowering coaches and referees after enrolling for an international training programme.
Madzvamuse said, “Our coaches and referees are going to be trained by the best officials from Argentina, as you all know Argentina is the home of Cestoball. It is good that they will be keeping appraised with the international standard.”
Cestoball is a court sport that fuses handball and basketball.
