Dickson Kamungeremu wins men’s 100m event

Harare Athletics Board hosted their first Track and Field championship of the year with Dickson Kamungeremu winning the men’s 100m event.
Dickson Kamungeremu won the senior men’s 100m event at the Track and Field championship held at the National Sports Stadium’s B arena this Saturday.
The signature event had other Olympic hopeful in Itayi Vambe, while young sensation Makanaka Charamba dominated the 200m races.
In the ladies category Mitchell Zuze was the big name in the 100m event and she lived up to that billing as she dominated her race.
High jumper MakanakaIshe Chadenga matched his personal best jump with a 2.1m jump as he tries to qualify for the World Junior Championships in August.
“The goal is to qualify for the world Junior championships and I am going to do all I can, I am currently on 2.1 and I need to add a bit but since this was my first event I am happy,” said the athelete.
Harare Athletics Board was pleased with hosting its first event of the year.
“We are so excited to be able to host this we have had an overwhelming response we didn’t think this was possible but we managed to observe covid-19 restrictions,” said Cousinet Simunyu Zhuwao the Harare Athletic Board Chairperson.
With the Junior national Championships coming next week in Bulawayo, most athletes could have been pleased with having some minutes in their legs.
