Domestic cricket: Eagles beat Rhinos

 By ZBC Reporter

Domestic cricket continued this Tuesday with Eagles beating Rhinos by six wickets in a high scoring T20 cup match at Old Hararians.

A brilliant 140 not out from Brandon Taylor was not enough for Rhinos as they lost by six wickets to Eagles.

Rhinos won the toss and elected to bat and that decision was vindicated as former Chevrons captain Brandon Taylor put on a show as he hit 19 fours and five sixes to power the Midlands based side to a handy 194 for one at the end of 20 overs.

In reply, Tinashe Kanhukamwe quickly stamped his authority as he led the fight back with 47 at the top of the order.

Young Wesley Madhevere joined in and scored a quick 44 before Regis Chakabva concluded the team fight with a 57 that propelled Eagles to 196 for four (4) with 20 balls to spare.

The defeat means Rhinos cannot make it into Friday’s final as they have lost 3 matches in a row.

Meanwhile, test captain Sean Williams has missed out on the International Cricket Council, March player of the month award as India’s Bhuveneswar Kumar scooped the top gong.
