Chevrons player Wesley Madhevere powered Eagles to an impressive 7-wicket victory over Mountaineers in the first domestic T20 encounter at Harare Sports club this Saturday.

Madhevere was the pick of the Eagles batsmen registering 45 and not out with 4 boundaries off 41 deliveries while Tinashe Kamunhukamwe managed 24 runs off 24 balls with 3 boundaries.

Skipper Chamu Chibhabha also made a meaningful contribution of 17 runs on a day Tinashe Nenhunzi scored 10 with Regis Chakabva only managing a single run.

On the bowling side, Brad Evans was the pick of them all after taking 3 wickets from 4 overs while Tapiwa Mufudza and Madhevere took two wickets each as Eagles ended the day on 106 for 3 in 18.2 overs against Mountaineers 105 in 20 overs.

On the other hand, Mountaineers’ Gary Chirimuuta, Dion Myers, Joylord Gumbie and Tinashe Chiora’s combined efforts which produced 84 runs could not carry the day for the Manicaland-based side as the bulk of their players could not make any meaningful contributions.

Brighton Chipungu was the pick of the Mountaineers bowlers after taking two wickets in 24 balls as national team player Victor Nyauchi managed a wicket in 3.2 overs.

The Mountaineers would end the day on 105 in 20 overs, ultimately succumbing to a 7-wicket loss at the hands of the Eagles who managed 106 for 3 in 18.2 overs.
