THE Zimbabwe Women’s Cricket national team has been awarded Test and One Day International Status by the International Cricket Council (ICC).
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has awarded Zimbabwe women permanent ODI and Test status, along with Bangladesh and Afghanistan.
Test status means Zimbabwe women will have the opportunity to test themselves regularly against the bigger teams which include India, New Zealand, South Africa, England and Australia among others.
There will also be more funds availed for the development of the local women’s game by the ICC.
Meanwhile, Rocks won the men’s Logan Cup Competition after a clean sweep in the tournament.
The Masvingo-based franchise was returning to domestic action after 7 years following Zimbabwe Cricket restructuring exercise that saw the disbanding of the Rocks in 2014.
Roy Kaia, who topped the batting chart with 374 runs, was named the batsman of the tournament, and when his haul of 12 wickets was taken into consideration, he easily scooped the player of the tournament award.
Tendai Chisoro emerged as the bowler of the tournament for his 18 wickets.
