ALL is set for the opening of the 2021 tobacco marketing season next week, with the Tobacco Industry and Marketing Board advising all stakeholders to get vaccinated against Covid-19.
The 2021 tobacco marketing season begins on the seventh of next month and the country is set to surpass last year’s output.
With the dangers of Covid-19 still looming large, last year’s Covid-19 regulations remain in place, with the Tobacco Industry and Marketing Board further encouraging all involved in the process to be inoculated.
“We have put circulars encouraging buyers’ merchants and all those involved in the processes to be vaccinated,” he said.
However, bearing in mind that their workers will be on the frontline, other auction floors are not leaving any room for chance in terms of vaccination.
“We have taken all our employees for vaccination in preschool for the season because they are frontliners,” he said.
The basic World Health Organising guidelines of sanitising, wearing of masks and social distancing still apply with just one person representing the farmer during the auction process.
