Chevrons lose first t20 by 48 runs

THE Zimbabwe national cricket side, the Chevrons, lost by 48 runs in the first of three T-20 encounters against Afghanistan at the Zayed Cricket Ground in Abu Dhabi this afternoon.
Zimbabwe won the toss and opted to ball but that decision proved to be suicidal after the bowlers gave away 198 runs with five (5) wickets in 20 overs.
Rahmanullah Gurbaz was the star of the show, scoring 87 off 45 balls, hitting seven sixes and six fours.
Blessing Muzarabani and Richard Ngarava got two wickets apiece but it was the Chevrons failure to stop the scoring that contributed to their demise.
In reply, Chevrons’ opening batsman, Tinashe Kanhukamwe top scored with 44 runs from 37 balls but was not able to form any partnerships with Zimbabwe staggering to 150 for 7 after 20 overs.
Chevrons coach Lalchand Rajput bemoaned lack of discipline on the field.
“ I have always said that a cricket match is won by doing 3 things right that is batting, bowling and fielding unfortunately we didn’t field well today and our bowling wasn’t up to scratch we need to quickly rectify that,” he said.
The next match is on Friday at the same venue.
