Female entrepreneurs have underscored the need to support women to increase their participation in the mainstream economy.
Tourism Business Council of Zimbabwe President Winnie Chakanyuka is optimistic about women’s participation in the economy.
“Indeed we have come a long way but we are still confident about the increase in number of women entrepreneurs,” she said.
Zimbabwe Women’s Microfinance Bank chief executive officer Dr Mandas Marikanda provides an insight of women’s access to financial services.
“In the past they were very few but we have noted some significant improvements that area likely to spur the growth of the economy.”
Zimbabwe Building Contractors Association Women’s Desk Chair lady Mrs Galdencia Sigauke is more passionate about giving women a chance to break into the male dominated sector.
“There are huge opportunities so they (the females) should not fear but just focus on what they can achieve and take the risks.”
Institute of Chartered Accountants in Zimbabwe chief executive officer Mrs Gloria Zvaravanhu pledged support to women accountants.
Upsound—“It is our role to support the girl child and the upcoming people so that we can achieve more and treat everyone equally,”
The National Development Strategy One also speaks to gender equality as key to socio- economic development.
