PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa hosted the Highlanders Football Club executive at Bulawayo State House last night.
The Highlanders delegation was led by the club’s Chairperson, Colonel Retired Kenneth Mhlophe.
Highlanders Chief executive officer Nhlanhla Dube told ZBC News that the meeting with the President comes after the club got a mining licence under Government’s special grant.
“We got the mining license under a special grant of government from the reserved land so it was with the background that the President wanted an understanding of where we are and the challenges that we are facing and alps how he can assist because he was so keen to so this mining venture become a success.
We also took the opportunity to present him with a special token that being the Highlanders jersey and also a framed one to put in his office,” he said.
The President is an avid football follower who is also the patron of Zimbabwean Champions, FC Platinum who have dominated local football in the past few years, a period during which they won three successive Premier League titles and consistently participated in the African Safari.
