THE Northern Region Division One football League is leading by example after taking a business approach as they prepare for the resumption of domestic football.
With the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) having formally written to the Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) to resume football activities, the Northern Region division one Soccer League is working round the clock to ensure a smooth flow once permission is granted.
The region has since notified its affiliates on the need to prepare match venues which meet the required standards, sort out player contracts and be ready to adhere to the changing medical protocols in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.
In an interview with ZBC News Northern Region Division One League Chairperson Martin Kweza said there is a need for a paradigm shift in the way football is being run in the country while also challenging administrators to treat football as a business.
The players want recognition and they want something to play for and the leadership must create that environment,
Sport needs sponsorship once you do that, once u get business into football without business we are wasting time because football is business and business must take care of everyone involved, he said.
ZIFA is awaiting a response from the SRC over their application to resume football activities.
