NETBALL Gems captain Felisitus Kwangwa and Mighty Warriors skipper Emmaculate Msipa were the leading light after making their professional debut in Europe at Weekend.
Zimbabwe senior netball team captain Felisitus Kwangwa made her long awaited European debut when she featured in Surrey Storm’s first two matches of the season in the Vitality Netball Super league in England.
Affectionately known as Zim 1 in the netball circles, Kwangwa had a fine display in Storms’ victory over London Pulse before playing again in the loss to Mavericks the following day.
As if that was not enough, Mighty Warriors captain Emmaculate Msipa made her debut as a second half substitute for Spanish side Almassora as they lost 1-nil away to Alhama.
Almassora play in the Spanish Sekunda Division Pro league, which is the second level of competition in Spanish women’s football.
Away from the ladies, another national team captain Vitalis Chikoko was in outstanding Basketball form for Boulogne with 13 points and 7 assists as they beat Le Portel in the French Jeep elite league.
In football, Kaitano Tembo’s Supersport United returned to winning ways with a 2-1 win over Cape Town city, with Evans Rusike providing an assist, while Kuda Mahachi had a good game playing as a wing back.
On Friday, Golden Arrows beat Stellenbosch 3-1 away from home, with Knox Mutizwa who is slowly regaining form providing an assist, while Devine Lunga was at his usual best with Danny Phiri provided grit in the middle of the park.
In Europe Marshall Munetsi played a blinder for Stade de Reims as they settled for a one-all draw with Lens in the French Ligue 1, but it was a forgettable weekend for Tino Kadewere as Lyon fell 2-1 at home to Montpellier.
