Zimbabwe’s private sector has pledged support towards government’s procurement of the Covid-19 vaccine, saying a healthy population helps businesses to thrive.
The pledge by the private sector will come in handy in complementing government’s efforts to vaccinate its population against the deadly virus.
The sprit of unity has seen the Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries (CZI), Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC) and the Confederation of Zimbabwe Retailers rallying their constituencies to come together for this noble cause.
“We are in total support for the rollout of the vaccine and we will actively participate in the procuring process so that normalcy can return in the country,” said Ruzvidzo.
“As business we concur with government’s plans to vaccinate people as we continue the fight against Covid-19 and we will be giving financial assistance as well,” said Manzungu.
“The talk of having the vaccine excites us as it spells a step closer back to normalcy for business as such we are ready to join hands with government,” said Mutashu.
Ever since the first phase of the COVID-19 pandemic, the private sector has been actively involved in the response, amid government emphasis on collective responsibility.
In complementing government, the private sector has been pivotal in the manufacturing and procurement of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), among other needs.
