THE Zimbabwe senior women national cricket side got off to a false start in their One day international series against Pakistan after losing by a disappointing 178 runs at the Harare Sports Club this Tuesday.
The Lady Chevrons were left soul searching after a disappointing start to their 6-match series.
The Lady Chevrons lost by 178 runs in the first of the three ODIs posting 77 for 10 in 34.1 overs against the visitor’ 255 for 6 in 50 overs.
Zimbabwe captain Mary-Anne Musonda won the toss and elected to field on a cloudy day.
The Lady Chevrons had early in roads as they managed to get two early wickets within the first 10 overs but a 157 run wicket partnership between Pakistan captain Javeria Khan and Aliya Riaz took the game away from Zimbabwe.
Ayesha Zafar posted 14 runs, Omaima Sohail added 29 more while Nidar Dar registered 15 runs with Muneeba Ali Siddiqui on 4 as Sidra Nawaz and Fatima Sana scored 8 runs apiece to set up a 256 run chase for victory.
Zimbabwe, however, struggled upfront and lost wickets at regular intervals.
They lost 3 wickets inside the first 10 overs and only Pelajia Mujaji and Precious Marange managed to put up double digit scores.
Mujaji posted 13 runs while Marange was the highest scorer for Zimbabwe on the day with 16 runs.
It is hoped the Lady Chevrons will regroup in their second ODI on Thursday and register a spirited come back.
