AT a time the Covid-19 pandemic and lockdown have affected the viability of local companies, it is not all gloom as some entrepreneurs have managed to employ various strategies to remain afloat.
The continued extension of lockdown to curb the spread of COVID-19 has inflicted huge financial damage to companies including those in essential sub-sectors of the economy.
For women owned businesses, it is even worse given the traditional challenges that women in business face especially in male dominated industries.
For female entrepreneurs, Mrs Kudzai Dave and Ms Mariah Panganai, rising to the occasion is, however, the ultimate goal that all businesses should strive to achieve.
Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce President, Dr Tinashe Manzungu acknowledged that women in business are facing their biggest test so far due to the pandemic but urged them to be resilient.
We have many members under our banner of ZNCC and it is true that they are facing challenges to the extended lockdown. The onus is on them to consult and seek assistance from the association and Government so that they can overcome their various challenges, said Manzungu.
Government provided stimulus packages for companies to alleviate their plight during the first wave of the pandemic, however as the virus rages on there has been too many competing demands from government for resources including the urgent procurement of vaccines to inoculate the population, which runs into hundreds of millions of US dollars.
