The COVID-19 lockdown has not deterred ZIFA Northern Region leadership from preparing for an exciting football calendar to begin as soon the game is given the green light to resume.
As the pandemic starves the nation of sporting activities especially football for over a year,
the ZIFA Northern Region leadership, says it is working to bring back the game as soon as football is cleared to resume.
“For now we need to follow what authorities are saying because we need to save lives, having said that, we finished our season on a high note, two seasons ago with several cups. We have plans and we are ready to take off from where we left with several cups lined up, such that as soon as the government and authorities say it’s safe to go ahead, we will,” said Gilbert Saika, ZIFA Northen Region, Mashonaland Central Chairperson.
Saika challenged coaches to enforce individual training regimes.
“We have been engaging the coaches so that they give each and every player a specific individual training program to remain fit and each player should remember football is business once we are allowed to resume it’s business as usual.”
The Sports and Recreation Commission banned all sporting activities, owing to the spike in COVID-19 cases.
