Preparations begin for the Dubai 2021 World Para Athletics Grand Prix

THE Zimbabwe Paralympic Committee has set in motion preparations for the Dubai 2021 World Para Athletics Grand Prix set for next month after getting clearance from the Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC).

World Para Athletics Grand Prix is a qualifying competition for the Tokyo Paralympics with Zimbabwe set to be represented by a team of 15 athletes at the event which runs from the 6th to the 14th of next month.

 In an interview with  ZBC News Zimbabwe’s Chef de mission for the Tokyo Paralympic Games Ignatius Vambe said they are confident of their chances.

We are confident that our athletes will do well, and qualify for the Tokyo games. The athletes have already started getting into camp and we will start by testing before we do anything, he said.

Wheelchair racer Margret Bangajena will be the leading athletes alongside blade runner Pride Mafira who is hoping to emulate Elliot Mujaji.
