FC Platinum are back in training after getting the green light from the Sports and Recreation Commission to resume their preparations for the CAF Confederation cup play offs.
FC Platinum take on ASC Jaraaf of Senegal in the CAF Confederation Cup play offs, with the first leg set for the National Sports Stadium on the 14th of next month.
Morale is high after the Platinum miners got approval to resume training by the Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) and head coach Norman Mapeza says their target is to reach the group stage.
“We know we are representing the country. We just hope if everything goes according to plan.
“If we win our two matches we will go to the group stages and that is the target.
“So far so good the guys haven’t lost much in terms of their fitness. We gave them training programmes, but a week is long in football but we are not complaining so far so good,” Mapeza said.
FC Platinum have also bolstered their squad following the return of striker Donald Ngoma who left the team for Tanzanian side Young Africans in 2015 before moving to Azam FC where he was until last year.
The striker comes with experience to boost the frontline that will be missing the services of Perfect Chikwende who moved the opposite direction to Simba SC.
Former Dynamos right back Blessing Moyo has also joined FC Platinum and will add experience to the backline.
Meanwhile, Highlanders vice-captain Peter Muduhwa has joined the great trek to Tanzania after he was signed by Simba SC on a 6-month loan where he is eligible to play only in the CAF Champions league.
