FOUR members of the Warriors delegation that was at the African Nations Championship -CHAN tournament in Cameroon have tested positive for Covid-19..
The team arrived back home this Wednesday without four members of the delegation who have been quarantined in Cameroon.
ZIFA spokesperson Xolisani Gwesela confirmed the development.
“Four members of the Zimbabwean delegation have tested positive to covid 19, the four include two players and two officials and they have remained behind in Cameroon at a government facility,” he revealed.
“Further tests will be conducted and the team will return home soon,” he added.
In December, 9 players and 5 officials tested positive for Covid-19 and had to self-isolate, thereby disrupting the team’s preparations.
The Warriors had their worst performance at the CHAN tournament where they were eliminated after losing all their group matches and scoring just one goal.
Zimbabwe have done better at previous CHAN tournaments after ending with three points at the inaugural edition in 2009 and another three in 2011 before reaching the semi-finals in 2014.
The warriors had a poor showing in 2016 but they bowed out with at least a point hence the team reached an all-time low at the ongoing edition.
