THE Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) has approved the participation of local sporting associations in international and regional tournaments.
In a statement, SRC indicates that Zimbabwe Golf Association has been approved to participate on the South African Swing Gold Tournament in South Africa, while FC Platinum will participate in the CAF Confederations Cup.
“The Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) hereby gives notice, that the Minister of Youth, Sport, Arts and Recreation in consultation with the Minister of Health & Child Care APPROVED with conditions the following sport codes after careful consideration of their re-applications:
“Zimbabwe Cricket : Approval for the Pakistan Women’s cricket team to tour Zimbabwe for a limited-overs cricket series against the Zimbabwe Senior Women’s cricket team. Approval for the Zimbabwe men’s cricket team to undertake a tour to the United Arab Emirates or India for International cricket series against Afghanistan. Tennis Zimbabwe: Approval for the Zimbabwe Junior tennis players to prepare for participation in the Durban ITF tournament from 18 – 29 January 2021 and the Gaborone ITF tournament from 1 – 13 February 2021. Zimbabwe National Paralympic Committee: Approval to travel to Dubai and participate at the Dubai2021 World Para-Athletics Grand Prix Dubai from 5 to 14 February 2021,” reads part of the statement.
SRC also noted that the approvals come with additional set conditions that are specific to each sport code in addition to the requirements specified in Statutory Instrument 200 of 2020 as amended, World Health Organization guidelines, other legislation and policy directives as well as measures submitted by respective applicants relating to the prevention and containment of COVID-19.
