Division one versatile defender, Pawell Govere has made it into the Warriors squad that left Harare this Wednesday morning for the African Nations Championship (CHAN) tournament in Cameroon.
The 26-year-old defender is the only player who plies his trade in the country’s second tier league, to make into the final travelling squad for the CHAN football fiesta in Cameroon.
Govere, who turns outs for ambitious side Golden Eagles, won the heart of coach, Zdravko Logaruaic during the Warriors practice match against the Northern Region Soccer League Division One outfit last month.
“I am over the moon to be quite honest. This is a rare opportunity and a dream come true for me. I never thought I will make the cut especially by the fact that um from a lower league.
“All the guys here are from the PSL hence my call up came as a surprise. All the same will put in a good shift when given the chance.
“To my club and community Warren Park please rally behind me don’t lose heart,” said the enthusiastic Govere.
Warriors gaffer, Logarusic expressed optimism that his charges will do well at the tournament.
“Overally we are happy with what we have and I can assure our fans that we are not just going there to add numbers, we will also compete. We are Warriors and the fighting spirit is there we will grind results.”
The 23-men Zimbabwe side left Harare for Ethiopia before connecting to Cameroon with the team expected to arrive in Yaounde on Thursday.
