Northern Region Soccer League outfit, Eagles FC defender, Pawell Govere says he is delighted to be in the Warriors fold and has pledged to prove his worth as Zimbabwe gears up for the African Nations Championship (CHAN) tournament in Cameroon this month.
“I thank God for this opportunity because it is rare for a player from lower leagues to get such recognition, I want to continue working hard and reward the coaches for their faith on me.
“This is an opportunity that I will safeguard jealously as I aim to reach the top or even ply my trade beyond the borders of Zimbabwe or even Europe,” said Govere.
Govere, who turns out for Northern Region Soccer League Division One side Eagles FC, started his playing career in Warren Park at the turn of the millennium, where he once played for Golden Spurs Academy and FC39 before joining Division Two side Dillo Aces in 2017.
If Govere makes the cut for the final travelling squad to Cameroon, he will make history by becoming the only player from Division One to represent the country at the continental stage.
Zimbabwe will open the fiesta with a date against the hosts on Saturday, face Burkina Faso four days later before finishing their group stage campaign with a clash against Mali on the 24th.
The CHAN tournament runs from the 16th of January to February 7th in Yaounde Cameroon.
Meanwhile, the Warriors are expected to go for another round of covid-19 tests this Tuesday ahead of their departure on Wednesday.
