Zimbabwean champions FC Platinum are set to face Senegalese side ASC Jaraaf in the CAF Confederation Cup after a draw conducted this Friday at the CAF Headquarters in Egypt.
Norman Mapeza’s charges were relegated to the second tier of Continental club football after being eliminated from the Champions League under controversial circumstances by Tanzanian side Simba SC.
The Platinum miners will play the first leg at home on the 14th of February, before travelling to Dakar for the second leg a week later.
Jaraaf is Senegal’s most popular club and are no strangers to continental club competitions hence FC Platinum will have to dig deeper to progress to the next phase of the competition.
Meanwhile, Simba SC has parted ways with their Coach, Sven Vandenbroeck after leading them to the group stage of the CAF Champions League.
The decision which also came with the Tanzanian giants just 9 points behind Young Africans in their domestic league with 3 games in hand has sent shockwaves around the continent amid claims in some quarters that the coach might not want to be associated with the controversy surrounding the club at the moment.
