THE upgrading of Chinhoyi stadium is on course as the venue prepares to host premier soccer league matches.
The stadium is expected to be used by Premier league outfit Black Rhinos as its home ground.
The army side settled for the Chinhoyi venue after weighing the option of using Bindura’s Trojan Mine stadium with the municipality now seized with the task of upgrading it to meet the required standards.
A new perimeter fence has been erected around the main pitch while a razor wire security barrier has been added.
Improvements have also been made on the terraces and changing rooms, with additional ablution facilities being constructed.
However, the football arena still needs attention.
Asked to comment on the progress made so far, Chinhoyi municipality spokesperson Tichaona Mlauzi said he was off duty.
Meanwhile, a recent storm destroyed part of the stadium’s precast wall with reconstruction now underway.
