The Warriors’ technical team has expressed satisfaction with the commitment of players as the Warriors returned to training this Monday after a Christmas break ahead of the African Nations Championship tournament set for January 16 in Cameroon.
A provisional 23-men squad conducted its first training session at the National Sports Stadium’s B Arena in Harare this Monday after a Christmas holiday break as preparations for the CHAN tournament intensify.
With less than a fortnight before the final team which will travel to Cameroon is announced, the Warriors technical department says it is happy with the time and efforts put in by the boys.
“We are very content with the level of commitment and hunger for the game from the players. If we continue like this we are certain we will go far. Otherwise, we are satisfied with the progress made so far since day one. We still have a few days to fine-tune our boys and we are happy with the progression,” said Warriors Head Coach Zdravko Logarusic.
Despite the team coach bemoaning lack of adequate preparatory time, he has assured the fans that the team will fight to the best of its ability.
“What is worrying is that we are the only team which does not have a running league among those at the tournament, surely this has a ripple effect on the fitness of players but apart from that, we are good to go. We are Warriors at the end of the day and we can assure our supporters that we will fight at the fiesta.”
The Zimbabwe Warriors have exactly two weeks left to fine-tune themselves ahead of their expected departure for Yaounde on January 11.
The Chan tournament will run from January 16 to February 7 in Cameroon.
