ZIMBABWEAN champions, FC Platinum are eyeing the quarter-final stage of the prestigious CAF Champions League.
This comes as the Platinum miners are preparing for a mouthwatering clash against Tanzanian giants Simba SC in Harare on Wednesday.
The country’s sole representative in the African Champions League, FC Platinum believe the football Gods will once again work in their favour when they host Tanzanian giants Simba SC in a first round tie at the National Sports Stadium on Wednesday.
With the Platinum Miners walking with a spring in their step after eliminating Mozambican giants, Costa do Sol, team spokesperson Chido Chizondo is bullish they will do even better.
“We are no longer new to this tournament but I think it’s high time we should look beyond the group stages and probably proceed to the quarter final stage. As you know, however, we have changed coaches in a short space of time and the coach is still working on some of the things hence we will not put pressure on him but instead support him and hope the boys will be at their usual best,” she said.
Chizondo also highlighted that preparations are going on well and the boys are raring to go.
“Our preparations have been going on well and the friendly against the Warriors a couple of days ago in which we drew proves how competitive the boys have become. We have just took a three days’ rest after the Costa do Sol match have reverted back to training to make sure we are polished,” he said.
FC Platinum eliminated Costa Do Sol after a 4-1 aggregate win, while Simba progressed after knocking out Plateau United of Nigeria 1-0 on aggregate.
Meanwhile, Simba SC have arrived in Zimbabwe ahead of the match.
