Government directs new Cottco, ARDA boards to transform operations

STATE agricultural entities, Cotton Company of Zimbabwe and the Agricultural Rural Development Authority have been directed to turnaround their operations in line with vision 2030.  

This comes after President Emmerson Mnangagwa appointed former CZI president, Mr Sifelani Jabangwe to chair the Cottco board while Mr Ivan Craig has been appointed the new Chairman of the Agricultural Rural Development Authority (ARDA).          

Speaking at the unveiling of the boards for the two entities, Lands, Agriculture, Water and Rural Resettlement Minister, Dr Anxious Masuka said the parastatals should move towards viability.  

The government is focusing on turnaround we, therefore, expect you to act in a manner that guarantees sustainability, he said.     

Other members of the Cottco board include Mr Pious Manamike who is now the substantive Chief Executive Officer, Onai Muvingi, Mrs Cynthia Tapers, Dr Ezekiel Svotwa, Dr Mildred Mushunje, Mrs Mavis Marongwe, and Mrs Medlinah Magwenzi.       

The ARDA board comprises Mr Lance Jena, Dr  Darlington Muzezwa, Mr Brian Harry Oldrieve, Mrs Philomonia Mandala, Mr Willard Mhona and Dr Conrad Zawe.
