CHAN squad selected based on previous performances- Logarusic

Warriors head coach, Zdravko Logarusic has justified his African Nations provisional squad which is in camp ahead of the tournament set for Cameroon in January saying they had no option but to use previous performances.

No football has been played in Zimbabwe since the end of last season due to Covid-19 pandemic.

Although the premier soccer league was granted permission to resume training in October, no competitive action has taken place.

With the African Nations Championship- CHAN 2021 coming up, the technical team was left with no choice but to announce a training squad, which coach Zdravko Logarusic says is based on the players’ previous performances.

“It was difficult to calm the team without a league running but we had to use knowledge of the players so that we can come up with the team.
The tournament is coming up in January so we had to call a team to prepare and we are warriors we will fight.”

Warriors midfielder, King Nadolo says despite the absence of a running league, they are going to Cameron to compete.

“Yes we know we don’t have a running league, but we are professionals we have to fight and it’s not like we were seated at home we were doing individual training and we are going to compete.”

The Warriors are billed to play a training match against Ngezi Platinum Stars this Thursday.
