Preparations for the bio-secure bubble mini-league have gathered momentum, with most Premier Soccer League clubs back to full training after conducting Covid-19 tests.
After conducting Covid-19 tests in line with the stipulated health guidelines, most top-flight clubs have returned to group training in preparation for the proposed mini-league tournament to be staged before the end of the year.
A visit to 2 Brigade Stadium and Motor Action Sports Club where army teams Black Rhinos and newsboys Cranborne Bullets are sweating it out, gave a clear picture of how teams are hungry for the resumption of competitive action.
“We are hungry for the game and we are working flat out to ensure that when the phased league comes, we will be ready for it. Morale is high and the boys are eager to showcase what they have,” said Black Rhinos
Head Coach Herbert Maruwa.
Cranborne Bullets Assistant Coach Enerst Jamu had this to say; “It is a great delight to be back we had missed the game and it was such a difficult time for us since we rely on football to earn a living. When the league comes we will prove that we are not just here to add numbers but to make a mark.”
Another new club Tenax also set in motion their preparations this Wednesday, with the club’s assistant coach Blessing Madombi confirming the development.
Bulawayo giants Highlanders’ Media and Communications Officer, Ronald Moyo confirmed the club returned to group training last week after Covid-19 tests.
The proposed mini-league comes ahead of the CAF African Nations Championship- CHAN tournament set for Cameroon from January to February next year.
The football fiesta exclusively features players who ply their trade in their domestic leagues. Morocco is the defending champion after winning the 2018 edition on home soil.
