The Zimbabwe senior men national football team, the Warriors, are set to lock horns with the Desert Foxes of Algeria in a 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at the Five July 1962 Olympic Stadium in Algiers this evening.
The Warriors who landed in the Algerian capital this Wednesday had their practice session at the match venue on Wednesday evening in what was Coach Zdravko Logarusic’s first training with the full squad.
The Warriors gaffer has bemoaned lack of ample time to prepare for this epic encounter against the reigning African Champions.
Although the Croatian is missing some players including France based midfielder, Marshall Munetsi, he is optimistic of a fruitful hunting expedition in the Desert Foxes compound.
If the latest head to head statistics are anything to go by, Zimbabwe has a better share following 3 scoring draws and a 2-1 victory at the 2004 edition of the Afcon.
The match is set for 5 July 1962 Olympic Stadium and kick-off is 9 pm Zimbabwean time.
