Private-public partnerships are paying off in driving the country’s development agenda with the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation-ZBC having received studio equipment from Simbisa Holdings this Wednesday.
The donation by the listed fast food brand has been hailed for responsible corporate citizenry which is set to be the key enabler to the country’s economic development agenda under Vision 2030.
Guest of honour at the handover ceremony, Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister, Senator Monica Mutsvangwa received the equipment on behalf of ZBC at Pockets Hill Studios in Highlands where she commended Simbisa for helping in the dissemination of key information on government development programmes to all citizens.
” Government is establishing a symbiotic relationship with the private sector and many collaborations have been struck in the past. This donation of studio equipment by Simbisa Brands will further ensure that Zimbabweans are informed of the programs that Government is undertaking which have manifested in the positive economic developments on the ground,” she said.
Simbisa Brands Chief Executive Officer, Mr Warren Meares underscored their commitment to giving back to the community, adding that ZBC is a perfect fit in terms of their corporate responsibility policies.
” As a company, we felt compelled to partner with ZBC as a way of giving back to the community because we value the role that ZBC plays to drive Zimbabwe’s economic growth agenda,” noted Meares.
ZBC Acting Chief Executive Officer Ms Helliate Rushwaya said the donation could not have come at a better time when the national broadcaster is improving its programming.
” We are honoured to receive this critical equipment as it will increase our capacity to provide better programming,” she said.
Equipment donated included the latest editing suite among other items.
The latest partnership comes just a week after another collaboration between ZBC and the Institute of African Knowledge (Instak) for the reproduction of Chimurenga music by young musicians.
The handover ceremony was attended by ZBC board members, senior management and staff.
