Three key gold mining projects are expected to take off in the Zaka, Mwenezi and Ngundu areas of Masvingo as the government works on achieving a 12 billion United States dollar mining sector by 2023.

The gold mining projects set for Masvingo Province are gaining traction with equipment expected on site next month.

Mines and Mining Development Minister, Honourable Winstone Chitando told ZBC News that “equipment will be on site at the Ngundu mine by next month to pave way for construction.”

“We will be visiting the Ngundu site soon with the minister of state. But by December we will have equipment on site.

“Masvingo province is very exciting we have three new mining projects that we expect to take off. This will have an impact not only on the provincial GDP but the national GDP.”

The minister noted that some investors have expressed interest to pursue gold mining in Zaka.

Mining is among the sectors expected to propel the country towards an upper middle class economy by 2030.
