Cricket fans in for some exciting action
Exciting times are back for cricket enthusiasts after government, through the Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC), approved Zimbabwe Cricket-ZC’s request to host domestic competitions starting this Sunday.
Having launched the inaugural National Premier League (NPL) featuring 9 teams drawn from various parts of the country, ZC has given all cricket fans and players alike an opportunity to enjoy the fun.
Dubbed the biggest of them all, the match between MidWest and Takashinga is expected to be a mouth-watering encounter at Kwekwe Sports Club, while Harare Kings will travel to Masvingo Sports Club for a date with Great Zimbabwe Patriots.
Harare Sports Club hosts Rainbow and Gladiators with Queens and Amakhosi squaring off in a Bulawayo derby at Queens Sports Club.
With the Chevrons in camp ahead of their tour of Pakistan later this month, the launch of the NPL is a major boost to national team players’ preparations.
The eagerly awaited 45-over tournament will see the country’s top nine cricket clubs battling for honours in what is expected to be an entertaining 36-match tournament which runs until November.
