THE Zimbabwe Warriors are set to get back to action this October with an international friendly match against the Flames of Malawi set for the 11th of November 2020.
This is one of the moves by the Zimbabwe Football Association to ensure the Senior men National Football Team has the best preparations for the back to back AFCON qualifiers against Algeria in November.
ZIFA Corporate Communications Manager, Xolisani Gwesela confirmed the development adding that the squad will be announced soon.
“The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) would like to confirm that we have agreed on terms with the Football Association of Malawi for a friendly match between the Warriors of Zimbabwe and the Flames of Malawi. Coach Zdravko Logarusic is set to announce his squad and as usual, we are going to publicise the squad and the football fraternity will have the full information about the particulars of the squad in due course,” he said.
The Zimbabwe Senior Men Football Team was scheduled to face reigning African champions Algeria in April but the games were called off due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The two games will now take place in November between the 9th and 17th as confirmed by the Confederation of African Football-CAF
The Warriors are second in Group H after a nil –all draw with Botswana in November last year before beating Zambia in the second match.
The 2021 Africa Cup of Nations scheduled for Cameroon has been moved to 2022 due to delays caused by COVID-19.
