ZIMBABWE National Cricket team Coach, Lalchand Rajput has underscored the importance of adequate preparations for the Chevrons to qualify for the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup.
After a long spell of inactivity owing to Covid-19 restrictions, cricket is getting back to full swing, with government having cleared the Chevrons for the tour of Pakistan next month.
With the Chevrons in the hunt for a place at the 2023 cricket world cup, Head Coach Lalchand Rajput has expressed his excitement at the prospect of returning to competitive action.
“To be very honest, these are Super League games. If we do well these games will depend if we are to qualify for the 2023 world cup. So it’s a very important game for all of us so that we qualify like that and that is our biggest aim,”
Training is currently underway with hopes high that the nation will do well at the qualifier super league stage where they will square off against India, Australia, Netherlands, Ireland and Afghanistan.
“Chances are good because it all depends on our mindsets. How we prepare and if we go with a positive mindset. In cricket we have seen that anything can happen but we have got to prepare well. That’s my key. Because if you follow the processes right, the results will come,”
The gaffer, who is still in India waiting for the opening up of the skies to be with the team noted that the mixture of experience and youthful exuberance in the squad is meant to improve the side.
