EIGHT YEARS IMPRISONMENT FOR THEFT OF ECONET BOOSTER BATTERIES

Four men were arrested by The Zimbabwe Republic Police, Criminal Investigation Department, Chivhu for stealing twenty-four batteries at an Econet Zimbabwe Wireless booster in Sadza.

The suspects were taken to court on the 31st of August where three pleaded guilty and were sentenced to effective eight years’ imprisonment. The other suspect denied the charges and he was remanded in custody to 03 September 2019 for trial

 

The four are, Artwell Chigumba aged 29 years of Betera Village, Chief Svosve, Hwedza, Takudzwa Kudenga aged 20 years of 159 Hwedza Location, Hwedza, David Gendi  aged 22 years and Enock Dhanisa  Musekiwa aged 24 years both of 8235 Unit K Seke, Chitungwiza.

 

The criminals were reported by the security guard who saw the suspects approaching the premises and sneaked out before being noticed and he rushed to the police where he made a report. However, the four fled the scene before the arrival of the complainant and the police. The police immediately made follow ups and caught up with the suspects who were on their way to dispose the loot
