ZC suspended from ICC

Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) has been suspended by the International Cricket Council (ICC) after the Sport and Recreation Commission (SRC) suspended the newly elected board led by Tawengwa Mukuhlani.

The ICC board agreed that ZC failed to fulfill its obligation to provide a process for free and democratic elections and to ensure that there is no government interference in its administration for cricket.

The suspension of ZC from ICC will lead to suspension of funding and representatives teams from Zimbabwe being barred from participating at ICC events.

Shashank Manohar, the ICC chairman said the international cricket governing body should keep the sport free from political interference, because political interference is the breach of ICC constitution.
