Chokuda dismisses fake news on Social Media

The clerk of parliament Mr Kennedy Chokuda has cleared the air on the fake news about the alleged passing on of the Vice President Retired General Dr Constantino Chiwenga.

This followed a fake letter circulating on Social Media, purportedly authored by Mr Chokuda on behalf of Parliament to President Emmerson Mnangagwa expressing condolences on the alleged death of the Vice President.

The clerk of parliament said the letter did not originate from him or the office of Parliament and the signature on the letter is a forged signature.

He added that the logo used on the letter is not the logo used by parliament on external communication, particularly to an esteemed office such as the office of the President and Cabinet (OPC). Parliament has an approved letterhead used in all official communication.

Mr Chokuda said the letter is a disgrace of our morality and how low some individuals can go to achieve their selfish agendas while creating unnecessary alarm and despondency.

The clerk of Parliament however apologizes to the President of Republic of Zimbabwe, Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa, Vice president Chiwenga and his family and the nation as a whole for the unwarranted attention that this bogus letter might have caused.
