End of Multi-currency

The bond note and the RTGS are now the only currency to be used for day to day transactions in Zimbabwe.

“Today marks the end of the multi-currency regime and the adoption of a mono-currency regime in favor of a domestic currency” – said Minister of Finance and Economic Development, Professor Mthuli Ncube.

However, the minister indicated that those paying for airline tickets and others paying duty for imported vehicles will continue to pay in US dollars.

“The march towards full currency reform is part of our Transitional Stabilisation Programme (TSP) … This move is beginning to restore full monetary policy and will give our central bank flexibility in conducting monetary policy” – Said Professor Mthuli Ncube
