Government warns the public against violent behavior

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has warned people who engage in any form of violence, following messages which have been circulating on social media threatening and calling for a national shutdown.

The messages were threatening to punish people who will open their business or go to work, burn vehicles, destroy shops and stopping children from going to school, among other illegal activities.

It is for this reason that the ZRP has since started conducting investigations on the source of these alarming messages

The public has been warned from taking part in any form of violence, anyone who does will be arrested and face the full wrath of the law.

“We therefore wish to assure the public that the security services will be ready to fulfil their constitutional mandate to maintain law and order as well as protect lives and property, from insurgent behavior.” Said the minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Monica Mutsvangwa.
