The Minister of Finance and Economic Development Minister Professor Mthuli Ncube dissolved the ZIMRA Board yesterday with immediate effect, a move aimed at reversing the fiscal dis-equilibrium.
ZIMRA’s senior management will be reporting directly to Treasury while some names proposed by the Minister are being cleared for board members position. All vacant posts have also been frozen.
ZIMRA Board consisted of 10 members whose term on the board had expired but were reportedly seeking for an extension which Government declined.
Prof Ncube said ZIMRA systems will be upgraded and enhanced in order to improve efficiency in revenue collection.
