Jose Mourinho On Why Cristiano Ronaldo Cannot Return To Manchester United
Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has often been linked with a return to his former club Manchester United, but manager Jose Mourinho believes that transfer will never happen.
The Portuguese tactician and the five-time Ballon d’Or winner worked alongside each other during their time at Los Blancos between 2010 and 2013, and together helped Real lift the Copa del Rey and the league title.
Mourinho has now stated his belief that there is no way that Ronaldo will return to Old Trafford.
“I believe that Real Madrid cannot sell him, it is prohibited,” he told Portuguese newspaper Record.
“He has to stay until the moment they authorise him to go and play one year in America or anywhere else that he wants to enjoy. It is a closed door.”
The former Chelsea boss was then asked if he had any hope of bringing the 33-year-old back to England.
“I do not think so, but all the people know his history in Manchester, the passion they have for him and that there are players in the world who, if the clubs have the possibility of signing, will not say no,” Mourinho added.
Ronaldo has been in sensational form once again this season, scoring 43 goals in 42 appearances for the Spanish giants so far
